NEW CD
Through the New York State Music Fund, Innova Recordings has received funding for a new CD of Neil's recent works. Details will follow, but expect a 2008 release date. Innova also released Neil's last two CDs, Shadow Quartet in 2005 and Digits in 2006
iFIDDLE SONATA
A new work for Todd Reynolds, violin and computer, and Kathleen Supové, piano. The large scale work will be premiered in a pair of 60th birthday concerts for Neil, on Oct 14 in New York City at the MOSA Concert Series, at Our Savior's Atonement Church at Bennett Ave. and 189th St in Washington Heights and on Nov 17 at EMPAC in Troy, NY.
LOVE SONGS
For 2007-08 season, Neil will write a set of orchestral songs for the Albany Symphony, under the direction of David Alan Miller, with soloists Theo Bleckmann, singer, and Todd Reynolds, violin. The piece will examine the evolution of love. The premiere will be the Albany Symphony's Valentine Day concert, presented Feb 14-16, 2008 in Saratoga, Troy and the Berkshires.
ECONOMIC ENGINE
The Economic Engine will be written for premiere at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, as part of the Conservatory's May 2008 celebration of the Bejing Summer Olympics. It will be for an octet of Chinese and western instruments, with digital processing, video projections, and narrative and structural elements drawn from data describing China's economic boom. The premiere will be May 8, 2008 in Beijing.
EXTENDED FAMILY
A new work for the string quartet ETHEL, exploring the interpersonal workings of families and, by extension, of string quartets. Supported by a grant from the Argosy Contemporary Music Fund, the new piece will be premiered in the 2008-09 season.
